I am an artist who writes primarily about self-taught art, artists informed by traditional culture, street art and individuals whose work reflects an intensely personal vision.

Currently based in New Mexico, I have lived in Bangkok, Philadelphia, New York City, New Delhi, and Tokyo.

Living around the world has given me access to many artists and art forms that are not well known in America and Europe. Often my articles are the first time this work is seen in print or online.

When writing, I aspire to render the subject in the most honest and accurate way, avoiding cliches or projecting my personal artistic point of view in the article.

The selected writing samples on this site reflect the range of my activities. They includes articles, exhibition and book reviews for print magazines, online journal features as well as museum and gallery catalog essays.

My own art work can been seen in several American museums, including the Art Institute of Chicago; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
